Introduction

The special selection of EM-Tec sample holders and sample stubs compatible with the JEOL Neoscope table top SEMs allows for increased productivity, quicker sample holding and improved imaging. The standard JEOL Neoscope series table top SEMs comprises X/Y movements of 35mm and allows for a maximum height of 50mm. The standard sample stage provides X/Y movements and Z adjustment, but tilt and rotation are only optionally available.  Currently available stubs and holder for the JEOL Neoscope series are:

1 - EM-Tec JV40 stage adapter kit for the JEOL Neoscope series table top SEMs:

The EM-Tec JV40 stage adapter kit is fully compatible with the standard X/Y stage of the JEOL Neoscope JCM-6000plus, JCM-6000 and JCM-5000 table top SEMs. With the EM-Tec JV40 stage adapter, a vast range of sample holders can be used on the JEOL Neoscope, offering improved sample handling and access to the vast range of EM-Tec versatile sample holders. It consists three parts:

• Stage adapter discs insert with female M6 thread
• Brass stage adapter pillar (adjustable height) with male M6 thread and M4 screw on top
• aluminium M6 locking ring.

It replaces the standard JEOL Neoscope stage adapter as a drop in style replacement.  The top of the adjustable height pillar includes an M4 screw. Fully compatible with all EM-Tec SEM sample holders with M4 threaded hole. 

2 –EM-Tec sample holders for the JEOL Neoscope series table top SEMs

The EM-Tec sample holders with M4 threaded hole are fully compatible with the JEOL Neoscope table top SEMs using the EM-Tec JV-40 stage adapter. The sample holders fir within the stage travel limits and maximum available height.  With the EM-Tec holders, tilt can be added to the sample movements. The EM-Tec sample holders enable quick and secure holding of samples without the use of adhesives.

3 – EM-Tec S-Clip holders for the JEOL Neoscope series table top SEMs

The EM-Tec S-Clips holders with the spring-loaded sample clips compatible with the JEOL Neoscope series table top using the EM-Tec JV40 stage adapter are:

• standard horizontal
• 45°  and 45° /90°  sample stubs
• 90° sample stubs.

They are useful to hold thin sample such as Si wafer chips, metal strips, plastic foils, etc.

 4 – EM-Tec sample stubs for the JEOL Neoscope series table top SEMs

The JEOL Neoscope series table top SEMs mostly uses the 25mm JEOL stubs. These are also used on the optionally available tilt/rotation stage. When using the EM-Tec sample holders, the standard JEOL 9.5, 12.2,25 and 32mm stubs can be used as well. Currently available JEOL stubs for the JEOL Neoscope JCM-6000plus, JCM6000 and JCM-5000 are:

• Standard flat JEOL cylinder stubs with the popular 25, 9.5, 12.2 and 32mm diameters. Available with heights of 5 and 10mm.
• Angled JEOL cylinder stubs with 45°, 45/90° and 90° pre-tilt surfaces.
• Dish type pin stub with 12.2mm diameter and recessed top for fluid samples and solutions.

5 - EM-Tec SEM stub adapters for the JEOL Neoscope series table top SEMs:   

With the EM-Tec SEM stub adapters, you can use the standard pin stubs, Cambridge S4 stubs and Zeiss pin stubs on the JEOL Neoscope series tabletop SEMs. The JEOL stubs with the M4 threaded base fit directly on the EM-Tec JV-40 stage adapter and do not require a stub adapter.  With a stub adapter, there is no need to re-mount the sample and sample integrity is maintained. Also useful for using calibration standards which are be mounted on a pin stub. Recommended SEM stub adapters are:

• EM-Tec H15P stub adapter with M4 thread to accept all standard and Zeiss type pin stubs
• EM-Tec HS4 adapter with M4 thread to accept the 32mm Cambridge S4 mounts
